# Tron

[Tron](https://tron.network/) is an open-source public blockchain platform that supports smart contracts. It is compatible with Ethereum and boasts a higher transactions per second (TPS) rate. This is made possible through the TRON Virtual Machine (TVM), which is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), although there are some [differences](https://developers.tron.network/docs/tvm#differences-from-evm)  between them.
