# Stellar

[Stellar](https://developers.stellar.org/docs/validators) is an open-source, decentralized network that facilitates fast and low-cost cross-border transactions between digital currencies and fiat money. It connects banks, payment systems, and individuals. It's using its cryptocurrency (Lumens - XLM) to help with transactions between different currencies.

## Stellar Node Type & Networks

>
> On **testnet**, Horizon nodes do not support full history. Testnet history is limited to the period since the last reset.

| Core Node                      | Mainnet/Testnet | Minimal history (up to \~2 hours)              |
| Soroban Node                   | Mainnet         | 7 days                                         |
